2nd Annual Rally for RAACE - Sunday, August 19, 2007
The RAACE Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting the epidemic of child sexual abuse by raising public awareness. An estimated 39 million survivors of child sexual abuse exist in America today. Statistics indicate that 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 7 boys are sexually abused before the age of 18. In 90% of reported cases, the abuser is someone the child knows and trusts. We hope by bringing to light the prevalence of child sexual abuse we will lessen the social stigma associated with addressing this troubling and destructive social issue. The RAACE Foundation believes that as adults, we have an inherent responsibility to protect our children from sexual abuse. It will take courage, determination and the efforts of many to make a difference in the fight against child sexual abuse. But we can, and must do it!
A 43-mile police escorted ride thru scenic Harford County to help The RAACE Foundation raise awareness of child sexual abuse. For more info: call 1-800-755-KIDS or visit www.raace.org
KarmaFest 2007 - September 8, 2007
KarmaFest 2007, a holistic/psychic/yoga festival, will be held September 8 and 9 at the 4-H Campground at The Rocks. The festival is in its second year and is the brainchild of Patricia Hawse, of Pylesville. “It all started when I went to Louisiana for Katrina Relief with the Red Cross,” Patti explains. “There, under all the stress of working in such negative conditions, I found myself anxious and depressed. I cried myself to sleep the first two nights I was there. On the third night, however, I joined in a yoga and meditation class held in the Red Cross Resident’s shelter designed to help relieve the relief workers. After the yoga, my body relaxed. When I awoke from the meditation, my mind was at peace. I’ve been happy ever since! On my departure from Louisiana, I vowed I would spread the word about these simple, yet profound, life-changing tools that are available for all to enjoy. That is how I came up with KarmaFest – to help get the word out!”
The admission price is only $8 a day (or $10 for a weekend pass purchased in advance) and gives the attendee an opportunity to participate in free yoga, meditation, lectures, and more.
For more information or to reserve your $10 weekend pass contact Patti Hawse at 410-446-2569, email her at hawsejourneywithin@yahoo.com, or go to the KarmaFest website @ www.KarmaFest.com.
